Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Bar brooches became popular during the late 19th and early 20th centuries as fashion transitioned toward lighter, tailored garments. Designed to sit horizontally along high lace collars or lapels, these pins favoured refined wirework, symmetry, and delicate gemstone settings.

Late Victorian jewellery frequently utilised 15ct gold, a British standard used between 1854 and 1932. Accents often included natural seed pearls, turquoise cabochons, coral, and small diamonds held in claw or rub-over settings.

Authentic British pieces from this period often bear a 15 or .625 stamp indicating 15-carat gold content. The construction typically features handmade tube hinges, long brooch pins extending slightly past the catch, and delicate hand-finished wirework.

An antique bar brooch can be pinned to a blazer lapel, secured at the collar of a button-down shirt, or used to fasten a silk scarf. Grouping multiple small antique pins together on a jacket pocket also offers a contemporary layered look.

Turquoise and pearls are porous materials that react poorly to harsh chemicals, water immersion, and ultrasonic cleaners. Clean the gold gently using a soft, dry lint-free cloth, avoiding liquid contact with the gemstones.
