Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Early 20th-century hall lights often combine architectural brass frameworks with decorative glass shades, reflecting stylistic transitions from late Victorian ornamentation to Art Nouveau and Art Deco geometric forms. They were designed to provide functional illuminating focal points in entryways and hallways.

These fixtures typically feature solid cast or stamped brass frames, often finished with a natural patina or lacquered coating, paired with frosted, etched, or moulded glass shades designed to diffuse light evenly.

Authentic period pieces feature cast brass components with visible hand-finishing, natural oxidisation in crevices, period-appropriate shade fitters, and original threading or hook suspensions that differ from modern standardised metric fittings.

A matching pair of brass hall lights can be hung symmetrically along a corridor, positioned above a long kitchen island, or placed sequentially in a high-ceilinged entryway to add historical structure and warm metallic tones.

Clean the brass structure gently with a soft dry cloth to preserve the natural patina, avoiding abrasive chemical cleaners that strip historical finishes. Glass shades should be removed carefully and washed separately using mild soap and lukewarm water.
