The objective of using this particular design in combination with these specialist paint finishes is to create a real statement piece of furniture with complexity and richness overall. The Neoclassical Vitruvian Scroll design has long been utilized as architectural feature and on furniture. By its very nature, these designs must be created using geometric calculations to determine the precise number of scrolls required. They are then meticulously drawn out by hand and framed within the designated area. The latticework design demands an equal level of individual attention detail to ensure the correct proportions, which are essential for the overall effect.
The paints used are colours from the Georgian era and various periods within Continental Europe, mixed according to our traditional recipe and applied by hand with great precision. We describe the colours and with more contemporary names, which we hope are accurately descriptive.
The base colour is a Distressed Mottled Black finish, while Distressed Mottled Antique White has been used for the Vitruvian Scroll and Latticework Design. Other indiv
...idually mixed colours have been applied to provide appropriate highlights and lowlights, thus enhancing the design with added depth and detail and imbuing a greater texture and dimension.
