Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Staffordshire enamel boxes are small decorative containers produced in England during the mid-to-late 18th century, particularly in South Staffordshire and Bilston. Originally designed to hold snuff, patches, or pills, these objects feature hand-painted artwork on copper bases coated in vitreous enamel.

These boxes were constructed using thin sheets of hammered copper shaped into forms, which were then coated with layers of powdered glass enamel and fired at high temperatures. Metal mounts, typically made of copper alloy or brass, were fitted around the rims to join the hinged lid and base.

Authentic 18th-century pieces display hand-painted decoration with minor irregularities, hairline surface stress cracks (craquelure) in the enamel glaze, and aged patinated metal mounts. Stencilled designs, modern chemical solder, or perfectly uniform machine-made fittings indicate later reproductions.

A small enamel box serves as an accent piece on a bedside table, dressing table, or stacked atop art books on a sideboard. Grouping it alongside other small decorative items creates a curated vignette in a living or bedroom space.

Clean enamel surfaces gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth, avoiding water or chemical solvents that could seep under metal mounts. Keep the box in a climate-controlled environment away from direct sunlight, as thermal expansion can cause enamel to chip or crack.
