Extremely Fine and Rare Japanese Cloisonne Plaque. Meiji Period. Circa 1900.
Superbly rendered cloisonne enamel plaque with realistic rendered foliage and butterfly. Lotus leaves and flower pod (Katydid) and butterfly speak aloud of the symbiosis of insect and plant, and at the end of the summer. In extremely high quality mirror finish, and rare thin plaque construction (2mm thick). Beautiful colours and artwork*.
Condition: Excellent condition with minor surface marks. No enamel losses.
Dimensions: Diameter = 30.5cm: Thickness = 0.25cm (2.5mm).
