Fowey River Antiques has dated this piece to the 1940s.
This the legendary calibre 88 movement the small seconds version of the more common calibre 89 regarded as one of the finest movements ever made and known as "The watchmakers watch" as you can see it is in fabulous condition.
Everything about this was is original, the dial has not been restored or retouched in any way and is in superb condition with very slight fine patina slightly yellowing around the edges which you would expect from an original dial from 1946, the solid gold hands are also original as is the winding crown, the serrations are crisp and sharp. It has the Swiss Squirrel hallmark to the back of the case indicating that the case is made of solid 14ct gold.
As you would expect the watch is fully marked on the dial, movement and case.

The watch case measures 35mm in diameter not including the crown.
