This antique octagonal bowl features a Mother of Pearl with pale staining exterior with an iridescent finish and a gilded butterfly motif. The rim is highlighted with intricate gold scrollwork. Its interior showcases a vibrant orange-gold luster with crimson mottling, complemented by a textured surface and a central butterfly ornament. This exquisite piece exemplifies the lusterware designs of Daisy Makeig-Jones (1881–1945) for Wedgwood. The bowl''s octagonal form reflects precision and symmetry, lending a modern aesthetic to this early 20th-century creation. Printed Wedgwood with Portland Vase mark to base and numbered Z 4832. Daisy Makeig-Jones joined Wedgwood in 1909 and achieved fame for her Lustre pottery line, first introduced in 1914. She pioneered a revolutionary pottery production technique, leading to the creation of both Fairyland and Ordinary Lustre designs.
