Elegant ebony hard wood and hallmarked silver walking stick or cane, the pommel being an excellently carved head of a hound. The carving is done in Red deer antler horn. It has it''s original glass eyes.
The silver was assayed in Birmingham as shown in the pictures, date letter for 1921
and makers mark for J Howell & Co Ltd.
The silver collar is engraved with floral details with a blank cartouche under the back of the dogs head. It''s a wrap around collar pinned under the dogs nose to look like a collar.
It measures 92 cm 36 1/4 inches in length, the pommel is 9.2 cm 3 5/8 inches wide.
It''s in excellent condition but with some signs of age and
use as you''d expect at this age.
Remarkably the hounds head is excellent, no chips cracks or missing pieces. A small hole in front of one ear which is part of the antler make up I believe .
The glass eyes are original.
Some minor surface marks to the silver as shown but no holes or splits.
