Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Georgian chests of drawers, produced between 1714 and 1830, are distinguished by classical proportions, symmetry, and fine cabinetmaking. They typically feature a two-over-three drawer configuration, cockbeaded drawer edges, and solid mahogany construction supported by bracket feet.

High-grade Cuban or West Indian mahogany was predominantly used for primary visible surfaces due to its density and rich grain. Secondary timber such as pine, oak, or deal was utilised for internal drawer linings, joined with hand-cut dovetails and fitted with cast brass hardware.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-sawn drawer linings, slightly irregular hand-cut dovetail joints, pierced brass backplates with swan-neck handles, and natural wear around the base and keyholes. Keyholes frequently feature cast brass or inlaid escutcheons.

A Georgian mahogany chest serves as a grounding focal point in entryways, bedrooms, or living spaces. Pairing the timber with contemporary artwork, minimalist ceramic vessels, or modern lighting creates a balanced contrast between historic craftsmanship and contemporary decor.

Maintain mahogany furniture by dusting regularly with a dry, lint-free cloth and applying beeswax polish once or twice per year. Position the piece away from direct sunlight, radiators, and extreme atmospheric humidity changes to prevent timber shrinkage or finish damage.
