Clockwise is delighted to welcome into its collection a fine London wire-driven eight day fusee dial clock. The rectangular plate anchor escapement movement has just benefitted from a full overhaul so the clock enjoys a three year guarantee.
The superbly restored 12 inch dial illustrates the maker as ''Rest Brothers, 27 Beak Street, London''. William Rest is recorded at that address in 1910 as a watchmaker so it is likely that this was the very clock that adorned the wall of his shop. Original spade hands behind a heavy original spun brass bezel add to the impressive appearance.
The mahogany case is of a standard two piece pegged construction with a solid mahogany fascia attached to its original rear box. There is a side inspection door complete with the retailer''s repair ticket after he moved premises to just around the corner in Lower John Street, both addresses just off fashionable Regent Street. The rear box contains a lower door with a turnkey lock.
Ultimately this is a lovely piece of late Victorian clockmaking in excellent condition and ready for its new home.
Clockwise specialises in longcase and bracket clocks and with global clients from the world of business, film, sport, royalty and aristocracy - yet more than happy with traditional clients - Clockwise has an unrivalled reputation for excellence and superb service.
