Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Bakshaish rugs originate from the Bakshaish region in Northwest Persia, located near Heriz. Produced in rural weaving villages during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, these rugs are celebrated for combining classical Persian medallion layouts with primitive, stylized geometric weaving traditions.

These carpets are hand-knotted using hand-spun wool pile woven onto a durable wool or cotton warp and weft foundation. Artisans employed natural, plant-based dyes derived from madder root, indigo, and oak galls, creating distinct tonal variations known as abrash.

Authentic Bakshaish rugs feature geometric, abstract interpretations of floral and arabesque motives rather than curvilinear designs. Look for soft wool foundations, flexible backings with visible hand-tied knots, organic dye subtle color shifts, and asymmetrical corner executions.

A small Bakshaish rug works effectively as a focal piece in entryways, studies, or anchored beneath accent armchairs. The geometric motives and rich terracotta tones provide warmth and contrast when paired alongside modern neutral upholstery or exposed timber flooring.

Vacuum regularly using a suction-only setting without a rotating beater bar to prevent fiber damage. Use a quality underlay pad to prevent slipping and wear, rotate the rug annually to balance light exposure, and rely exclusively on professional specialist dry rug cleaners.
