Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A three-draw telescope is a portable optical device featuring three sliding brass sections that extend to increase focal length and magnify distant terrestrial or astronomical objects. Popular during the Edwardian era, these instruments catered to maritime navigation, field observation, and private study.

These telescopes were primarily constructed from drawn brass tubes with precision-ground glass lenses. The main outer barrel was frequently clad in stitched leather, vulcanite, or mahogany to protect the metal casing and provide a firm grip in wet weather conditions.

Authentic period telescopes usually feature maker inscriptions engraved onto the smallest draw tube near the eyepiece, such as maker names and city of manufacture. Look for original hand-stitched leather work, natural patination on brass surfaces, and precise machining on the draw tubes.

An antique brass telescope is best styled horizontally on a bespoke wooden stand across an office desk, mantelpiece, or bookshelf. It serves as a sophisticated focal point within traditional studies, dark wood libraries, or modern eclectic living rooms.

Clean optical lenses using only soft, dry microfibre cloths tailored for optics. Avoid using harsh chemical polishes on aged brass surfaces to retain original patina, and apply specialized leather conditioner sparingly to keep the outer casing supple and prevent cracking.
