Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An inline skeleton timepiece features a mechanical movement where the gear train is arranged vertically in a straight line, housed within a transparent case to reveal the internal components. Popularised in the mid-20th century, particularly by Swiss clockmakers, these designs emphasise technical precision and modernist aesthetics.

Mid-century skeleton clocks predominantly feature brass frames, bevelled glass or acrylic panels, and synthetic jewel bearings within the movement. The gearing is precision-cut from brass and steel to ensure reliable operation without requiring heavy opaque support plates.

Authentic mid-century Swiss clocks usually feature maker marks or Swiss stamps on the movement, base, or dial plate. Key indicators include refined mechanical finishing, visible synthetic rubies, bevelled glass edges, and solid brass construction rather than lightweight plated alloys.

A transparent skeleton clock functions well on a minimalist desk, bookshelf, or fireplace mantelpiece where light can pass through the glass casing. Positioning the timepiece against a dark or textured backdrop highlights the mechanical movement within.

Dust the glass and exterior brass casing regularly using a dry, non-abrasive microfibre cloth to prevent scratching. To preserve the movement, avoid placing the clock in damp conditions or direct sunlight, and have a professional horologist service the mechanism every three to five years.
