A very striking Coalport porcelain sugar bowl of demi-tasse size with an unusual quatrefoil Greek cross shape with large scrolled side handles. Highly decorative pattern to the inside and outside, the main sides with small printed cameo portraits of neoclassical style hanging beneath stylised floral droplets and ribbons. These panels are infilled with gilt and the inset corner sides are decorated in gilt with vertical flowering garlands. A stylised flower to the centre of the base and finished with gilt rims, handles and foot. Printed mark to the base, c.1885 and marked with the pattern number A4846.It measures 13cm (5 1/8'') wide across the handles, 7.2cm (2 6/8'') rim to rim and 4.8cm (1 7/8'') high to the rim (7cm (2 3/4'') to the handles).In excellent condition with no damage or repair and remarkably minimal handling wear given the amount of gilding.Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque.
