Brian MacDonald Antique Rugs & Carpets has dated this piece to the 1920s.
The border on each face shows a zig-zag pattern all the way round which I suspect symbolises the eternal cycle of life.

Particularly attractive is the brocaded patterning at the top of the neck, which the weaver has gone to great lengths to decorate. The sides are bound in original goat-hair and the bag is in excellent condition.
