Description

A nice early vintage silver penannular brooch which harks back to the pins the ancient Celts, Vikings and Anglo-Saxons used as cloak fasteners. Also known as a tara brooch in Ireland.

SIZE: Approximately 3.8cm diameter, with a 5cm pin.

WEIGHT: 11.7g.

MATERIALS: 925 sterling silver.

HALLMARKS/STAMPS: Hallmarked for Edinburgh sterling silver, 1935. There is a partial sponsor's mark W&.

CONDITION: Excellent vintage condition.
