They are of Sioux and Plains Indian Tribes illustrating their lifestyle and art. The original artwork was done by Amos Bad Heart Buffalo ( b.1869-1913 ) also known as Wanbi Waphaha ( Eagle Bonnet ), a noted Oglala Lakota artist and Tribal Historian. He used the tradition of painting on animal skins in a style called Ledger Art.
