An exceptional quality 18thc cast brass and bronze crusie lamp, once common in England and the near continent,....the lamp would have been fuelled by animal or vegetable oils and the wick would have been placed in the rest immediately above the bronze spout, reaching down into the oil-filled reservoir.....it has very fine detailing to the curved supporting column and the hooked hanger , which would have allowed it to be hung from a beam or clout nail....the lamp is in very good original condition.
Continental. C1770-90.
