A fine example of an 18thc lignum vitae sail maker''s seam rubber, it has a thirteen sided diamond shaped knop, which is scratch carved with a pair of compasses and a square, also it contains some feint initials....the octaganol section stem has a traditional flat pointed shaped end with slight marks showing it has had a working life..! It has a very good colour and is in excellent condition with a natural patina.
