A really good example of an early pewter ''broad rim'' plate , from the last quarter of the 17thc...it is stamped with the makers touchmark complete with his initials MD and a date of 1686, which is probably the date of entry into force of regulations ....it also has stamped onto the top of the plate, a coat of arms, showing a handshake bordered with what looks like a floral pattern...on the reverse it has the original owners initials P.C ....the plate is in very good condition and my feeling is that it is Swiss, as it is very similar to one I sold in October...
