A very stylish silver cream jug of bulbous form with generously curved spiral fluting around the body, nicely shaped spout with multi-reeded detail to the rim and foot and elegantly curved handle. Gilt washed inside. Hallmarked to the base for London 1837, maker Thomas Merry II. A very nice quality, well made piece.
It measures 8cm (3 3/16'') high, 10.8cm (4 1/4'') spout to handle and 7cm (2 3/4'') wide. It weighs 137g / 4.4ozt.
In very good condition: there appears under close inspection to have been a repair to the left side of the spout but it is minimally noticeable or detracting. No dents and minor handling wear, the marks are nice and clear.
