Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1900s.
The lid is made from English sterling silver and fits perfectly.

The silver is of course hallmarked for the highly sought-after Chester assay office and for the year 1906, a true Edwardian example. The makers initials are also present, G.N over R.H into a shield, for the silversmiths George Nathan & Ridley Hayes.
Superb condition, the lid measuring 8 7/8" long x 1 3/4" in width.
