Rare Japanese Early Showa Bronze, Camel & Rider, Yokoe Yoshizumi

Unusual Japanese early Showa (1930s) bronze camel and rider by Yokoe Yoshizumi (1887-1962). A rare and unusual subject, the artist skillfully depicts a man riding a camel laden with water bottles. The base is inscribed with the artist’s signature. 35cm long x 10.5cm wide x 40cm high, weight 6.4kg
 
Yokoe Yoshizumi (1887-1962) graduated from the Tokyo Academy of Fine Arts (1914) and was accepted for the first time at the 12th Bunten Exhibition in 1918. He was selected for numerous art exhibitions and won many prizes. He was a judge for the Teiten Exhibition in 1929, and a councilor for the Nitten Exhibition in 1952. He visited Europe in 1930 and 1936.
