Large, Hand Painted Love Handle Mug from the 1850'S

19th century
Description

Very large, hand painted Love Handle Mug, believed to be made by Coalport in the 1850's.

The Flower Still Life is very well painted with the Gold Gilding largely intact.

On the reverse is a large inscription: William Langhorn, Ely, Cambridgshire.

There is a record of a William Langhorn of St. Mary Church in Ely, Cambridgeshire in the 1850's and there is a possibility that this mug was given as a present for good services.

The mug measures ca14 cm in height and with a diameter, excluding handles, of ca 13.5 cm.
