John Squire (fl. 1867-1896). A good mid-late 19th century gilt-framed watercolour painting depicting a Cornish fishing village
 
The scene is of a Cornish Fishing Village with crashing waves and sailing boats making heavy going in choppy seas.
 
Signed: lower right corner.
 
Dimensions: 27 x 51 cm
 
Date: c.1870-80.
 
About the Artist: John Squire (fl: 1867-1896). Known as a landscape painter, he lived in Ross, Herefordshire, also Swansea and London. He exhibited at the Royal Academy, SS (50 works) and NWS from 1873-1896. Titles exhibited include “Watergate Bay, Cornwall, 1873. and “Coombe Park Water, Exmoor, 1896.
