This is a great opportunity. This is a well made oversize chess board and backgammon box from the second half of the 19th century
Club sized 6cm squares the box is 64 cm x 54 cm and nearly 7cm deep
The inlay is various woods and the backgammon whit inlay is bone
The patina is glorious and the woods are mainly mahogany and boxwood. This is a perfect board for a club set or equivalent
Look closely and you will see this board has the scorer holes along each side. A sign of quality and age and I can confirm that they are a light wood inlay not ivory
The box has suffered some damage to a hinge area in transit and the ''bits'' have been collected
I have priced this to sell
Keen to do deals not run a museum so offers are are always welcome.
