Superb Arts & Crafts or Aesthetic Movement walnut tile back washstand by the acclaimed English cabinet makers Goodall & Co of Manchester c.1885. Well figured marble top with a tall splash back with a central block of nine beautifully patterned tiles flanked by larger tiles featuring an illustration of a duck at the water''s edge and a swallow in flight. The tiles are set within a walnut surround with turned finials and spindles and carved moulded and ebonised detail. Walnut base featuring three drawers over a two door central cupboard flanked with open sides with more patterned tiles in the floor. Inlaid marquetry panels to the doors, turned spindles repeated from the top and matching carved moulded and ebonised detail. Turned and reeded front legs, turned feet front and rear rased on the original pot castors. Original brass handles, paper label for Goodalls on the rear and also stamped on the right hand drawer front. Small corroded patch to the marble, otherwise excellent colour an condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
