Art Deco Blue Enamel & White Gold Ladies Watch by Elgin, Serviced, C1928

Description

One of the best makers design wise for ladies Art Deco watches in the American watch company Elgin. This example is an absolute delight. Very decorative with this engraved decorative edges with Royal blue enamel. Wonderful stylised Deco numerals on an oval dial face. The serial number on the movement dates it to 1928. Fully serviced and now works well and keeps good time.

The new leather strap has been added and has a faux snake effect pattern which compliments the watch perfectly. Ideal time piece for day or evening wear.

Watch case is 1.2 cm wide 2.2 length

The company was first incorporated in August 1864 as the National Watch Company in Chicago, Illinois. The company built the Elgin National Watch Company Observatory in 1910 to maintain scientifically precise times in their watches. The company produced many of the self-winding wristwatch movements made in the United States. The company discontinued all US manufacturing in 1968 and sold the rights to the name "Elgin", which were subsequently resold multiple times over the years.
