Martin Jules CHOUARD (1839-1919) Swags of Apples a Pair of Watercolours c1890
A near pair of decorative watercolour paintings signed and presented in expensive stylish maple frames.

Unknown in his time, except by a few local insiders, he was rediscovered at the end of the 20th century with a first exhibition in London. This painting comes from the “Sunday Painter Drawings and Watercolours” exhibition, at Hazlitt, Gooden & Fox, London in 1985.
Martin-Jules Chouard was born on July 31, 1839 in Morville, a hamlet of Aufferville in the southwest of Seine-et-Marne, France. He died on September 14, 1919 in Chāteau-Landon. The son of a winegrower, he became a teacher and amateur painter.
