A stunning sterling silver straight sided George II Coffee pot of a large size and a very good weight. It is a very bold and impressive piece of silver with the most stunning colour and shine. The deep shine comes from the thick gauge of silver used.
Beautifully engraved crest with armorial to one side.
It is fully hallmarked Sterling Silver, 1737 London
The makers mark is of Gurney & Cooke
It is in an excellent condition being free from any repairs, denting or damage.
The fruit wood handle is in good order, tight and secure.
Signs of use to the inside of the coffee pot.
The coffee pot hinge is in excellent working order.
Some light surface wear as expected for its age and use.
Quite remarkable for a piece that is over 280 years old. I contemplated having the pot polished but I decided that it has the most beautiful colour, so best left alone.
21cm height to tip of finial.
19cm width including handle and spout.
12.2cm diameter at base.
7cm diameter at rim.
767 grams.
A very impressive, honest and usable piece of early Georgian silverware in a remarkable condition.
