Chinoiserie Needlework Tapestry Four Fold Screen, 19th Century

Description

Fabulous Chinoiserie needlepoint tapestry four-fold screen, 19th century, each panel with a different design of Chinoiserie figures, musicians, animals and birds amidst flowering plants and braided borders. The reverse of the screen covered in a buff-coloured linen fabric.

This is a hand-worked needlepoint screen and not machine made. The condition is very good with no fading or damage to the needlework. The bottom of the screen is mahogany veneered which does have some losses.

170cm high, each panel 59m wide.
