Technical Description
 
A pair of Victorian Overshot glass vases dating to c1880. They have gilded rims with clear overshot bodies with a band of polished, engraved and gilded leaves around the middle. Gilded circular feet. An exceptional pair which are probably unique in todays antique market.

Condition
 
Excellent, clean and clear, no chips cracks or restoration. Some loss of gilt to the rims.

Comments
 
Overshot glass was made during the Victorian era in many different locations, including England, Europe and the USA where Boston & Sandwich made some outstanding decorative and functional pieces. It is created by rolling the hot glass in tiny pieces of broken glass and then reheated to remove the sharp edges producing a very rustic look and feel.
