Small Ladies Japanese Marquetry Writing Slope C1920

1900 - 1920
Description

This small and intricately made ladies writing slope is of elegant proprtions and dates to c1900-1920. Made in the Japanese style of mosaic marquetry (yosegi) and with a lacquered interior. The slope folds out and the top opens to reveal lift out lacquered compartments and an ink well. The sides are also black lacquered and decorated. Overall, a wonderful looking object.

In good condition with slight signs of age related wear. Felting of the slope is in good order. No key.

Weight approx 1.2kg.

Measures approx 32cm x 25.5cm

Height at highest point approx 8.5cm.
