Rare Ladies Victorian Silver Pommel Sword Walking Stick Cane Ebony Shaft

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Shires Antiques

Rare to find Victorian ladies Sword Walking Stick, the silver isn''t hallmarled but has been tested at 925 standard.

The silver pommel is a plain button top with silver eyelets in the top of the shaft for a wrist strap.

The body of the cane is ebony carved to look like blackthorn. The button that releases the blade is disguised as one of the thorn ends. It retains it''s original brass and steel ferrule. The locking mechanism is in good working order. You twist press the button to remove the blade, it clicks back into place. All works well. Slight split in the wood to the base but this is old and has been professionally stabilised so that it doesn''t move and the mechanism is securely held.

The blade is diamond shaped with no decoration. Some evidence that it was blued in the past. The blade is 18 3/4 inches 47.6 cm long. The cane overall is 87.6 cm 34 1/2 inches long.

Overall the condition is excellent, no damage or repairs other than the splits above as shown in the pictures. The silver is excellent with no holes or splits.

The blade does have some pitting, presumably from storage and lack of use. It''s been cleaned and waxed to protect it and overall is remarkable for it''s age.
