Victorian Lignum Vitae Bowling Ball Walking Stick 1882 Silver Collar Hickory Shaft

£145    $177    €173
Lovely Victorian 1882 hallmarked silver walking stick or cane with a lignum vitae bowling ball top.

The silver was assayed in London as shown in the pictures, date letter for 1882

and makers mark for Thomas Hayes, Spencer Street, Birmingham.

Could well have been a presentation piece.

The trumpet shaped ringed collar is otherwise plain with the pommel ball sitting into it.

The ball top is a miniature of a crown green bowling ball.

The hickory shaft has fabulous grain pattern which complements the ball top is a light weight and strong, fine for everyday use.

It measures 90 cm 35 7/16 inches in length, the pommel is 4.5 cm 1 3/4 inches wide.

The ferrule is original and made of brass and steel.

It''s in excellent condition but with some signs of age and use as you''d expect at this age.

The silver has some surface marks but no damage or repairs.
