Georgian Scarce Vine-engraved Double Series Opaque Twist Wine Glass

This is a Georgian, English short double series opaque twist wine glass dating from the middle of the 18th century, c1765.
 
The glass is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot commensurate with some 250 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the underside of the foot.
 
 
The glass has a rounded funnel-shaped bowl measuring 6.8 cm (2.7 inches) in diameter at the rim. The bowl is ''hammer''-moulded to the lower half and is engraved with a trailing, fruiting vine to the upper half. The bowl sits on a scarce double series opaque twist stem consisting of a thick white enamel cord within a twisted gauze; an unusual twist formation. The stem ends in a conical foot which measures 7.6 cm (3 inches) in diameter and which has a reassuring small shear mark to the edge. The glass is 13.7 cm (5.5 inches) in height.
