Description

A very pretty heart-shaped pendant dating from "La Belle Epoque" - late Victorian to Edwardian, c.1871-1914. Suspended from a chain which threads through a paste-set bail, the pendant features a large amethyst paste and hangs on a vintage sterling silver necklace - this chain is of a later date and a different design than the pendant chain but the two came to us together so we are selling them that way, though the long chain could easily be swapped for another.

The back of the heart frame is stamped with the French boar hallmark denoting silver of at least 800 fineness. The chain is stamped 925 (sterling silver).

Condition: The pendant is in very good antique condition; the silver would originally have been gilded and a little of the gold can be seen in the crevices at the back.

Size: The heart-shaped section of the pendant measures approximately 3 x 2.3cm, the total drop including the bail is 4.7cm. The necklace chain is approx 18 inches long.
