One of the best 18thc steel ember tongs I have purchased....this fine example is complete with a pleasing shape and pipe tamper...I particularly like the ''acorn'' knop to the handle and ring turn decoration......it would be hung up by the down-hearth fire...and as you sit in your comfy chair drinking your ale and smoking your pipe,....which would have been lit by using the tongs to get a lighted ember from the fire, after you have ''tamped'' your tobacco with the tamper included on your tongs.....in excellent original condition.English.
