Description:
This is a fine quality antique English provincial Georgian oak tripod table, with a rectangular top, constructed with a rare yew wood stem, incorporating a tilting mechanism, circa 1760, in excellent original condition. This early country George II oak tripod table features a solid oak top, displaying a rich period oak colour. The oak tripod table is constructed with an unusual rectangular-top design, making this a scarcer provincial table, compare to most of the round Georgian tripod tables in existence. The tilt top table features the original working hinge and iron locking mechanism, which locks the table into place when horizontal. The Georgian tripod table has been designed with a well-shaped yew wood baluster turned central pedestal stem, uniting the sturdy cabriole legs on block feet.

Nominal old use marks to the top and leading edges and top, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The original iron locking mechanism is complete and in working order, which is nice to see. The Georgian tripod table features the original top, base, pedestal, and legs. There are no breaks to the stem or legs. The oak tripod table is solid in joint and is ready to use.
