Ww1 Sailor's Pine Ditty Box

1900 - 1920
Description

An original WW1 era sailor's 'ditty box'. All sailors entering The Royal Navy were given a ditty box to keep their personal possessions in. This example is made of pine with a brass plaque on the front and it comes with its original working key. Inside the lid there are strips of wood for keeping papers behind and there is also a pen tray and small glass inkwell.

It is in good condition for its age with a lovely patina. It is clean and tidy inside and certainly very useable. There are some small knocks and minor signs of age and use but nothing detrimental.

The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions just ask.
