Description

Late C19th/ early C20th Chinese Qing Dynasty carved ‘huali’ scroll-end kang or opium table .

Rectangular low table with carved and pierced friezes having fruiting prunus detail with a carved simulated bamboo surround. The curved end panels with relief-carved corresponding prunus decoration onto scrolling feet .

The top with a well-figured inset panel . Of freestanding form with decoration to all sides .

In excellent original condition, the superior grade of ‘huali’ hardwood having achieved a rich colour and patina. No damage or repairs.

A useful and decorative exotic Chinese low table of practical scale and proportions.
