Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A regulator longcase clock is a precision timepiece designed to maintain exceptionally accurate timekeeping, historically used by clockmakers and observatories to set other clocks. They feature deadbeat escapements and specialized dial layouts with separate dials for seconds, minutes, and hours.

Regulator clocks from this period typically feature casework crafted from mahogany or flame mahogany veneers, brass movement plates, lead or brass weights, and silvered metal dials designed for high contrast and legibility.

Authentic regulators can be identified by their astronomical dial configuration with non-coaxial hands, heavy high-quality gear trains, deadbeat escapements, mercury or wood-rod temperature-compensated pendulums, and maker signatures on the dial.

A regulator clock serves as a focal vertical architectural element in a library, hallway, or formal reception room. Its clean horological layout and warm wood tones pair well with traditional panelled walls as well as minimal contemporary backdrops.

Keep the clock in a climate-controlled environment away from direct sunlight and heat sources to preserve the mahogany veneer. The mechanical movement should be serviced by a professional horologist every five to seven years.
