Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A revolving bookcase is a four-sided, freestanding storage unit mounted on a central mechanism or casters, designed during the nineteenth century to allow easy access to books from all sides without moving around the piece.

These pieces were typically crafted from solid hardwoods such as mahogany, walnut, or oak, featuring mortise and tenon joinery, veneered panel work, and heavy cast iron or steel swivel mechanisms at the base.

Authentic period examples often feature cast iron revolving apparatus beneath the base, hand-cut dovetail joints, solid timber shelves, and natural wear or oxidisation on the underside and hardware.

A revolving bookcase functions effectively as a central feature in a study, positioned adjacent to an armchair, or placed as a standalone room accent displaying books alongside decorative ceramics.

Dust the timber surfaces regularly with a soft cloth, apply a high-quality beeswax polish along the grain annually, and periodically inspect the swivel mechanism to ensure smooth rotation.
