A Pair of 19thC French Tin-Glazed Earthenware Vessels by Auguste Jean

An exceptional pair of large tin-glazed earthenware vessels by Auguste Jean (1829-96), dating from the period 1863-75 and hand-decorated in a Classical Revival or Aesthetic manner, signed & monogrammed to the base...remarkable for the fact that they were clearly intended to be used for holding liquid, as evidenced by the circular outlets with cork stoppers.

O/All. Height 24.75cm (9.75'')

Max. Dia. c16.5cm (6.5''), Dia. at Rim 12.5cm (c5'') & Dia. of Base 12.75cm (5'')

In almost pristine condition throughout with no cracks, chips or restoration, only very minor age-related wear and blemishes in the glaze & paintwork.
