This superb 19th century large bronze figure was produced at the highly acclaimed French foundry Bronze Garanti Au Titre Lv Depossee and it bears their stamp and registration number. This fine sculpture depicts a pretty young woman dressed in typical simple working clothes from this period standing with her arms folded and resting on a rustic wooded rake whilst taking a rest from the hey making on a hot summer day. It was sculpted by the famous French artist Henri Godet 1863 � 1937 who studied at the Ecole National Des Bearux � Art with Mathurin Moreau. Godet was married to the famous French feminist and orator Nelly Rousell. This superb bronze is high quality and finely detailed and has a wonderful mellow brown- green patination.
