A handsome 18th Cent Regulator by Norman MacPherson, Edinburgh. He is listed as working there from 1764 to 1784.
The smart architectural style case is in solid mahogany. The hood has fluted columns with Corinthian capitals and a brass bezel.
The good quality single train regulator movement has a dead beat escapement and Harrison maintaining power. It has a nice silvered dial signed by the maker and a large seconds dial. As a regulator it has a wooden pendulum rod to cut down any inaccuracies associated with temperature changes that can effect a metal rod. It also has a brass cased weight.
The case is in good condition with only minor knocks associated with age and use.
The movement is in good working order and keeping good time.
There is some packing under the seat board but this is probably due to the seat board being replaced at some time.
There is a letter dated 1912 attached to the inside of the door with details of the maker.
