Out of the corner of my high in a dry barn on an ancient Farm high up in the Shropshire hills something caught my Eye ! As a dealer for nearly 40 years I cannot drive 2 miles without wondering what treasures might lie ahead. And true to form out popped this utter gem ! Luckily it was dry and with RIP Woodworn this chair has the most amazing raked back, so easy to sit in that instant zzzzzzs are guaranteed ! One minor flaw is that the inside of one back leg has had a slice taken out but luckily retained. Why the inside of the leg who knows, but it’s all been reunited with its surrounding wood. It’s been painted red at one time then possibly her
indoors decided red wasn’t the current favourite colour and he dutifully slapped a bit of green on ! A very sturdy chair, don’t ask me what wood it’s made of but it’s a weighty piece, so probably a hardwood, elm or oak or ash maybe, whatever had been cut down and was reasonably dry. All pegged and doweled construction so looked after it will last another 300 or so years. The seat stands 44 cm above the floor. A genuinely remarkable and comfortable chair.
