Woven to go over a horse these rare pieces make great display objects. The red field overlaid on a midnight background colour have a three dimensional quality and are full of symbolism and the mystery of the Orient. The single line of red knots traversing the blue field is in no way a mistake and yet the exact reasons for including it escape the obvious answers. Is it simply to provoke your thoughts and give the eye something to catch...? It is very effective, as is the simply undulating field of blue in too many shades to describe. Marvellous.
