Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Palais Royal opaline glass refers to luxury decorative glass objects produced in France during the 19th century, frequently sold in the high-end shops surrounding the Palais Royal in Paris. These pieces often featured distinct opaque or semi-translucent blown glass mounted with gilt bronze or brass fittings.

These caskets were created by hand-blowing opaque glass into decorative forms, such as eggs or boxes, which were then fitted with custom gilt metal, brass, or ormolu collars, hinges, and stands to secure the glass without the use of heavy adhesives.

Authentic pieces generally display smooth, blown-glass pontil marks or clean interior finishes, high-density opacity, and precisely fitted hand-chased gilt bronze or brass mounts featuring period-correct construction techniques like miniature rivets or pinned hinges.

Small opaline caskets function well as accent display pieces on a dressing table, mantelpiece, or styled shelf, adding subtle colour and metallic contrast to modern vignette arrangements.

Clean the glass gently using a soft, damp microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh chemical sprays. Wipe gilt bronze or ormolu mounts with a dry cotton swab to remove dust without stripping original surface patination.
