Fine Welsh Oak Hanging Corner Cupboard, Montgomeryshire, Circa 1740

Description

A wonderful wall-hanging corner cupboard in dense native Welsh oak, with the reddish colour associated with the most superior furniture from Montgomeryshire. The cornice has a blind fretwork apron over a single door with an elaborate ogee-arched raised-and-fielded panel above a similar square panel, and the ends - very unusually - are also panelled. The interior has two elaborately shaped shelves.

This is a truly superior example with a rich colour and good surface patination.
